Pam's Pottery and Clay Ramblings

Pam's Pottery and Clay Ramblings
Oh, did I mention, while I was setting up "Guys & Dolls", I was also on duty as monitor for the guild, and taking my turn at firing the big gas kiln? I took over with the kiln at 7 am, and it finished about 3 pm. It was a very long day, but a good one, the fruits of the labor should make it all worth while. We will probably open the kiln on Thursday. I have a shelf full of mugs in there, with my Butternut glaze on the outside, with Very Very White as the liner, and the bottoms overlapped with a quick dip in Laguna Green. If I am firing it, I figgured I should have a few pieces in there, but it was a big change of gears, I have been doing ^6 pretty exclusively for about a year, so I had to get some ^10 clay for those mugs.
Today I am going in early to meet a kiln repairman/electrician, he is going to look at our (the guild's) three phase kiln and breakers, which may not be done quite right. We shall see. Then Larry and Jerry and I will have to get the guild caught up on bisque. We have not fired bisque in a few days so our kiln man could look at a cool and empty kiln. It is supposed to be 100 degrees outside again today, so it will be pretty damn hot in the kiln room for him!
